To the United States Boer Goat Association State Representatives,
Greetings!
Thank you all for your continued support of the USBGA.
The State Rep is one of the most vital links in the USBGA.
The USBGA State Rep position is one of great responsibility. To the average member, the State Rep is the USBGA. The members, especially new members, rely on the services of the State Reps for many things, particularly helping them with registration issues.
To effectively carry out the duties of a State Rep, you will need...
1) To have a fax line or email where the office can reach you.
2) The ability to call new members to welcome them aboard. Initial contact is critical. Other State Reps and Directors will be contacting them as well. You will be required to return all new member welcome information to the office, by fax, within 10 days of receipt. It is important that new members know there is a support network.
3) To have a working knowledge of USBGA policies and procedures, especially:
* how to fill out all USBGA registration forms, memos, and membership applications
* The USBGA Member Handbook
* Show rules and policies, even if you don’t show your own animals
4) A willingness to share your knowledge of Boer husbandry. Things like hoof trimming, kidding, parasite control, pasture management, etc. vary by location and climate.
5) A willingness to share your knowledge of the Boer goat industry. Our members need to know how to advertise and market their Boer goats – how to get the most bang for their buck (or for their doe, as the case may be!)
6) To be VERY Pro-USBGA. You are what the public sees and your actions and your words are what serve as an example to the new members and a lot of veteran members. Image is always very critical to the USBGA, particularly so as we go forward.
7) Dedication. The job of State Rep is rewarding, however, it will take time and effort. Please weigh these things carefully in your mind as you consider being a 2007 USBGA State Rep.
8) Current contact information. Please send a fax to the office at 1-877-640-4060 with your signature within 10 days of receipt of this letter if you wish to be a State Rep. Please include your E-mail address, fax number and your correct phone numbers and other contact information in your fax. This information must be kept up-to-date.
Some of the Executive Directors may also be calling on new members and talking with you to find out how we may best serve the USBGA and its members. You will be provided with a State Reps Handbook and the questionnaire to use to make your job a little easier.
The USBGA is moving forward at a VERY rapid pace….
If you have the time and energy, there are a few committees that are being set up, and we would appreciate the help. Just let us know where your interests lie. Check out our web site. I hope to be speaking to all of you in the very near future. Again, thank you for your continued support.
Dave Lilly, Chairman,
State Representatives Committee, USBGA
